👤 MYTH: Flights are Cheaper in Incognito Mode

It’s commonly believed that you’ll find cheaper flights if you search for them in incognito mode. This myth has been debunked many times by various experts and studies. While many airlines and OTAs track user behaviour, it’s not a factor that affects flight prices.

📆 MYTH: Tuesday is the Best Day to Book Flights

According to Skyscanner’s historic flight data, the cheapest day to book flights is actually Saturday. However, due to how complex airline pricing is, you should take this with a massive grain of salt. There are so many factors that affect flight prices that it’s virtually impossible to predict the cheapest time to book.

🔗 MYTH: Connecting Flights are Cheaper than Nonstop Flights

This can be true, but it isn’t always. Whether one option is cheaper than the other depends on when you book the flight, which route you’re flying and the numerous other factors that influence airline pricing. Just because connecting flights might be cheaper right now, it doesn’t mean that nonstop ones weren’t cheaper before, or won’t be in the future.

🤝 MYTH: There’s no Benefit to Joining Loyalty Programs

Even if you aren’t a frequent flyer, you should always credit your flights to an airline’s loyalty program. Redeeming airline loyalty points is the best way to book economy, business and first class flights at heavily discounted prices. If you’re serious about your travel goals and don’t want to overspend on flights, loyalty programs are the way to go.

💰 MYTH: Flights are Cheaper the Earlier you Book

Basic supply and demand dictates that flights will get more expensive the closer you get to the departure date. However, that doesn’t mean that they’ll be cheaper the earlier you search. Airline pricing is highly dynamic, and you’d be better off booking within the 4 month period prior to your departure date.
